Responsibilities
- Review project drawings and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates for structural and industrial steel fabrication
- Develop material and labor take offs
- Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and procurement teams to clarify technical requirements and validate quantities
- Request and analyze supplier quotations, update pricing databases, and prepare bid proposals
- Monitor project costs against estimates and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of structural and industrial steel fabrication processes, materials, and industry standards
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, fabrication shop drawings, and technical specifications
- Experience with estimation software and advanced skills in MS Excel
- Solid understanding of cost analysis, material take offs, labor calculations, and project budgeting
- Relevant technical diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
- Previous experience as an estimator or similar role in steel fabrication or construction in the Gulf region is an advantage

Role Description
- The Metal Fabrication Estimator is a full time, on site role based in Dubai.
- This position is responsible for reviewing project drawings and specifications, preparing detailed cost estimates for structural and industrial steel fabrication, and developing material and labor take offs.
- The estimator collaborates with engineering, fabrication, and procurement teams to clarify technical requirements, validate quantities, and ensure estimates align with production capabilities and timelines.
- Daily activities include requesting and analyzing supplier quotations, updating pricing databases, preparing bid proposals, and supporting negotiations with clients and contractors.
- The role also involves monitoring project costs against estimates, contributing to continuous improvement of estimating processes, and maintaining accurate documentation for all bids and awarded projects.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of structural and industrial steel fabrication processes, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, fabrication shop drawings, and technical specifications.
- Experience with estimation software and tools, as well as advanced skills in MS Excel and other office applications.
- Solid understanding of cost analysis, material take offs, labor calculations, and project budgeting.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with engineering, production, and procurement teams.
- High attention to detail, strong numerical aptitude, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
- Relevant technical diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience as an estimator or in a similar role within a steel fabrication or construction environment in the Gulf region is an advantage.
