The MEP Engineer plans and designs mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for judicial branch facilities.
The role includes developing policies, standards, inspection procedures, and evaluation tools for MEP matters.
Design and coordination
- Design HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems for buildings to meet project requirements, codes, and standards.
- Prepare CAD technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Coordinate MEP designs with architects and structural engineers.
- Select equipment, components, and materials based on efficiency, performance, cost, and sustainability.
- Incorporate energy-efficient lighting, HVAC controls, and renewable energy systems.
Construction and commissioning
- Provide technical support during construction, review shop drawings, conduct site inspections, and resolve MEP issues.
- Manage testing, balancing, and commissioning to verify system performance before occupancy.
- Ensure compliance with building, fire-safety, electrical-safety, and plumbing codes and standards.
Documentation and stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records of designs, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders about MEP systems and concerns.
Experience and education
- At least 5 years of total experience, including at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- GCC experience is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Professional MMUP Engineer Registration or UPDA certification.
Knowledge and skills
- Knowledge of MEP materials, site activities, and MEP-related material and shop-drawing submittals.
- Knowledge of local authority regulations, applicable standards, and the local market.
- Knowledge of MEP equipment testing and commissioning.
- Working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel is required; SAP ERP knowledge is preferred.
