Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Medical Underwriter, based in Doha, Qatar.
The Medical Underwriter will evaluate medical applications, assess risks, determine eligibility, and recommend decisions in line with company and regulatory guidelines.
Key responsibilities include reviewing medical records, analysing insurance applications, interacting with insurers, and clients, as well as ensuring accurate documentation of underwriting decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate medical insurance applications and supporting documentation to determine risk acceptability.
- Approve, decline, rate, or modify coverage based on underwriting guidelines and risk assessment.
- Ensure underwriting decisions comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and reinsurance arrangements.
- Communicate underwriting requirements and decisions clearly to agents, sales teams, and clients.
- Maintain accurate underwriting records and documentation within internal systems.
- Monitor portfolio quality and contribute to loss ratio management.
- Participate in developing and enhancing underwriting policies, procedures, and risk frameworks.
- Support audits, compliance reviews, and reporting requirements.
- Provide technical underwriting guidance to junior team members when required.
- Stay updated on market trends, medical advancements, regulatory developments, and underwriting best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Pharmacy, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years in medical insurance, health insurance and underwriting.
