Job Description
Organize laboratory work by matching computer orders with specimen labels, sorting specimens, checking labeling, logging specimens, and arranging reports for delivery.
Maintain clean and orderly work surfaces.
Laboratory Operations
- Run standards and controls, verify equipment function, perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting, and calibrate equipment using approved testing procedures.
- Monitor quality-control measures and protocols.
- Operate chemistry equipment and perform manual chemistry procedures.
- Operate hematology, urinalysis, and coagulation equipment and perform manual differential methods.
Communication and Professional Practice
- Participate in staff training, answer questions from other professionals, pursue educational opportunities, and maintain professional knowledge.
- Identify and communicate abnormal patient conditions to supervisory personnel, physicians, nurses, or designated public health officials.
- Follow established safety and security standards and comply with legal regulations.
- Keep laboratory information confidential and follow professional, hospital, federal, state, and local requirements.
