Role Overview
Experienced Medical Director role supporting ambulance, emergency medical services, and wider prehospital healthcare operations across Abu Dhabi.
The position provides medical oversight, clinical governance, and strategic clinical direction.
Responsibilities
- Ensure services are delivered safely and in accordance with DoH Abu Dhabi requirements and recognised prehospital care standards.
- Work with operational, clinical, quality, and HSE teams on clinical governance and service delivery.
- Support protocol and guideline development, clinical performance review, quality improvement, staff competency, and credentialing.
- Manage clinical risk and contribute to the development of EMS and prehospital services.
- Support safe, compliant, clinically governed, and high-quality patient care.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- DoH Abu Dhabi licence to practise Emergency Medicine or Critical Care.
- Minimum 2 years of prehospital, emergency department, or ICU experience.
- Experience in clinical governance, clinical oversight, prehospital service improvement, and quality improvement processes.
- Experience designing, developing, or operating out-of-hospital EMS systems.
- Experience or training in medical direction of out-of-hospital emergency medical services.
- Strong understanding of DoH Abu Dhabi requirements for the prehospital and ambulance sector.
- Ability to provide clinical leadership and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Advantageous Experience
- Previous EMS Medical Director or similar senior clinical leadership experience.
- Formal Incident Command or Major Incident Management training.
- Knowledge of EMS dispatch, communications, and response systems.
- Experience with clinical protocols, service design, mobilisation, clinical audit, quality assurance, or continuous improvement.
