Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on HVAC systems, generators, elevators, electrical, and Building Management Systems (BMS) to ensure safety, efficiency, and continuous operation.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and extend asset lifespan.
  • Test, maintain, and ensure the functionality of all safety equipment, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and fire suppression systems.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and suppliers for specialized maintenance or repair tasks.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and equipment logs, ensuring all work is properly documented.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Manage inventory of maintenance tools, spare parts, and supplies to ensure availability and cost control.
  • Supervise and support maintenance staff, provide technical guidance, on the job training, and conduct annual performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance policies, procedures, and schedules in compliance with university safety and environmental regulations.
  • Prepare operational and performance reports related to maintenance activities.
  • Oversee daily departmental operations, ensuring effective workflow and task prioritization.
  • Implement energy efficient maintenance practices and contribute to sustainability initiatives.

Risk and Crisis Management Duties

  • Guides the implementation of risk management across DAH.
  • Communicates key risk issues to the Departmental and Divisional Quality Assurance Committees and the Risk and Crisis Management Unit, as needed.
  • Reports progress of risks to the Departmental and Divisional Quality Assurance Committees and the Risk and Crisis Management Unit, as needed.
  • Allocates resources for risk management.
  • Fosters a positive, risk aware culture across DAH.
  • Ensures new and emerging risks are identified, treated, monitored, reported, escalated and closed in line with DAH procedures.
  • Ensures that risk control activities in their area of responsibility are implemented.
  • Ensures their staff members are aware of expectations in relation to risk management, by providing training.
