Role overview
Barrie Knitwear is seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Engineer to support textile manufacturing operations.
The role focuses on maintaining and repairing Shima knitting machines and other industrial production equipment.
The initial schedule is day shift, with shift work required in the future.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair industrial knitting and finishing machinery.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance to reduce downtime.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and technical faults efficiently.
- Work with machine operators, production managers, and engineers to ensure seamless operation.
- Support the Leicester site with machine setup and maintenance when required.
- Help production teams keep machinery operating at peak efficiency.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an industrial mechanic, preferably within textiles or knitwear.
- Familiarity with knitting machinery is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical and technical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
