Role Overview
The Mechanical Engineer works on electric actuators and hydraulic and pneumatic systems for nuclear and other regulated applications.
The role covers independent design, documentation, testing, qualification, quality management, customer support, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply solid modelling, design calculations, and analysis to electric actuators, fluid power systems, and gearboxes.
- Review and approve 3D models, drawings, bills of materials, calculations, specifications, and test reports.
- Maintain nuclear-grade documentation and ensure compliance with ASME NQA-1, RCC-E, IEC, customer specifications, and applicable standards.
- Execute FMEA, Critical to Quality identification, Commercial Grade Dedication, and other quality management activities.
- Identify qualification and test requirements and coordinate test plans and documentation with approved laboratories.
- Design hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic routine and life-test rigs for nuclear product testing.
- Execute product evaluation and endurance testing, including data collection and reporting in the testing laboratory.
- Support customers, technical reviews, troubleshooting, component selection, sizing, integration, safety programmes, and continuous improvement.
