Mechanical Apprentice

De Havilland Aircraft of Canada is seeking Mechanical Apprentices to join our Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) operation in Calgary.

This is an entry-level opportunity for recent graduates of an aircraft maintenance, mechanical, mechanical engineering technology, or related technical program who are looking to begin their career in aircraft maintenance.

Previous industry work experience is not required.

The Mechanical Apprentice will develop practical aircraft maintenance skills while working alongside experienced and licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs).

The role supports aircraft inspection, servicing, troubleshooting, removal, installation, and maintenance activities in accordance with approved maintenance data, company procedures, and applicable Transport Canada requirements.

• Assist licensed AMEs with aircraft mechanical maintenance activities.
• Perform assigned maintenance tasks under appropriate supervision and authorization.
• Assist with aircraft inspections, servicing, removal, installation, and replacement of mechanical components.
• Assist with troubleshooting aircraft mechanical systems and identifying maintenance discrepancies.
• Support maintenance activities involving aircraft mechanical systems, including engines, flight controls, landing gear, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, and related systems as applicable.
• Read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, drawings, work orders, and other technical documentation.
• Use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and specialized aircraft maintenance tooling safely and effectively.
• Complete maintenance records and documentation accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
• Follow approved maintenance data, company procedures, safety requirements, and applicable Transport Canada regulations.
• Maintain proper tool control, component identification, and work-area cleanliness.
• Identify and communicate defects, discrepancies, and potential maintenance concerns to AMEs and supervisors.
• Participate in aircraft inspections, modifications, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities as required.
• Develop practical aircraft maintenance skills through hands-on training and mentorship.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and airworthiness throughout all maintenance activities.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduation from an accredited Aircraft Maintenance, Mechanical, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related technical program is required.
• Previous work experience is not required; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Interest in pursuing or continuing an AME-M apprenticeship is preferred.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and aircraft maintenance practices.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and follow technical instructions, drawings, and maintenance documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and airworthiness.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to learn and perform maintenance tasks under the direction and supervision of licensed AMEs.
• Ability to work effectively in a hands-on aircraft maintenance environment.

• Work is performed primarily in an aircraft maintenance/MRO environment.
• May involve working at heights, in confined areas, and in various aircraft positions.
• May require lifting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and extended periods of standing.
• Must be willing to work assigned shifts and overtime as operational requirements dictate.
