- Ensures welding fabrications are in compliance with standard welding engineering practices and applicable customer specifications
- Develop welding automated robot programs
- Review and optimize existing welding robot programs
- Support welding technicians with welding robot programs writing
- Support welding technicians with machine setup
- Provides technical expertise and solutions within the scope of the project requirements such as specifications, welding requirements and project information
- Collaborate with customers, vendors and project team (PM, QA) to ensure implementation of welding procedures and practices
- Oversee progress to ensure execution is performed according to the welding specifications
- Provide welding processes support and suggest ways to improve and optimize them
- Metallurgical sample preparation
- Optical Microscopy
- Microstructure analysis
- Defect analysis
- Summarizing findings into a report
- Assisting with various projects as requested
- Observing and assisting with shop floor and hands-on tasks
- Design of experiments
- Data collection and analysis
- Mechanical testing of materials
- Solutions focused, organized, and project driven
- High attention to detail
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills
- Internal drive and a “can do” attitude
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problem solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills

- Ability to take a leadership role where required
- College Degree or University Degree in welding engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering or automation engineering is required
- Interest in materials and welding metallurgy required
- Welding experience beneficial
- Working knowledge of welding processes, welding fabrication and quality control an asset
- Knowledge of scanning electron microscopy an asset
