Material Engineer

Overview

• Roles & responsibilities
• Perform **material selection and specification** in line with project requirements
• Ensure compliance with international standards such as ASTM International, ASME, NACE International, and API, along with **QatarEnergy specifications**
• Conduct **corrosion assessments**, failure analysis, and material degradation studies
• Review and approve **Material Requisitions (MRs)**, **Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs)**, and vendor documents
• Coordinate directly with **clients** for approvals and technical clarifications
• Support procurement, fabrication, and construction phases with technical inputs
• Review **coating systems, cathodic protection**, and insulation specifications suitable for Qatar’s environmental conditions
• Participate in **HAZOP, risk assessments, and integrity management program.**
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate material solutions into product designs, ensuring compatibility and performance.
• Conduct failure analysis on materials to determine the root cause of issues and recommend improvements or alternatives.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees are preferred for specialized roles.
• Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in materials engineering, particularly in sectors like Oil & Gas.
• Experience with **QatarEnergy or similar Clients**
• Strong knowledge of corrosion, material selection, and sour service
• Strong English communication and client-handling skills
• Ability to effectively engage with diverse teams
