Job Summary
Organize and direct warehouse operations for receipt, storage, and distribution of materials to engineering and construction project sites.
Coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials between departments.
Material Control Responsibilities
- Administer and control material receipts, issues, and storage.
- Decide the disposition of material overages, shortages, and damaged materials and advise on applicable insurance claims.
- Supervise forecasts of future material use at the job site and control construction allowances.
- Coordinate local material requisitions with the respective chief engineer.
- Prepare or check arrangements for disposal of surplus materials.
- Initiate overage, shortage, damage, and reject reports and monitor reports for missing, lost, damaged, or changed materials.
- Participate in material scheduling meetings and recommend adjustments based on critical-material availability.
- Prepare storage plans, check inventory, and check material deliveries at site.
Management and Compliance
- Ensure subordinates observe safety regulations and that construction equipment and tools are safe.
- Coordinate material problem solving with procurement, field control, and field engineering departments.
- Control costs through personnel productivity, efficient storage-space use, and proper protection of stored materials.
- Maintain accurate receiving and issuing records and review material receiving reports for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Manage and monitor subcontractors, identify material losses, and take corrective action.
- Operate and utilize the FMC system.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related major.
- Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience as a supervisor.
- Project-based warehousing experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of material management.
- Technical competencies include organization, planning, cost, resource, quality, safety, progress, risk, inventory, document, client, and subcontractor management.
