Key skills for this role
We're hiring our first Manufacturing Test Lead. You will own Manufacturing Test as a discipline across the full Dive-XL build stack — PCBA bring-up, bottle bring-up, system check-out, and vehicle Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) — plus the test infrastructure that supports it. You'll also be the Anduril Australia counterpart to our US Manufacturing Test team. We are converging on a shared framework — same toolchain, Utility codebases, common error-code library — across both sites, and you will own that convergence from the AU side. WHAT YOU’LL DO
Define the AU Mfg Test discipline end-to-end — in-process testing, system check-out, FAT — across PCBA, bottle, and vehicle stages. Set the bar for what gets tested, where, how, and against what acceptance criteria.
Own the test eco-system: PCBA test rigs, sub-systems bring-up stations, system check-out benches, vehicle FAT test base, and end-of-line testers. Decide what to build, what to buy, and what to converge with the US plant.
Drive the move from rev-1 one-offs to a common, config-managed framework. NixOS-based toolchain, GUI-first execution, curated error-code library, version-controlled procedures.
Lead a growing Mfg Test team.
Test-as-acceptance interface with Quality. You own that interface — IQ/OQ/PQ on test rigs, gauge R&R, FAT acceptance authority routed correctly, NCR/CAPA when failures point at the test itself.
Cross-site partnership with US sites. Co-own framework convergence, co-own equivalent capability.
Design-for-Test influence. Be the voice in the design review that says 'this test point is missing' or 'this assembly cannot be testing-instrumented as drawn'.
Line-down response. When a test stage stops a build, you own the diagnosis, lead the fix, document it, make sure it doesn't recur.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Mechatronic, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. Strong electrical and systems fundamentals — instrumentation, signal integrity basics, power systems, sensors, actuators, harnessing, PCBA-level debug.
A test-discipline owner's mindset. You've stood up — or substantially rebuilt — a Manufacturing Test capability before. You think in test strategy, not just test execution. You understand where in the build stack each type of test belongs and why.
Hands-on experience across the lifecycle — PCBA bring-up, board-level functional test, sub-assembly check-out, system-level FAT. You can speak to ICT, FCT, custom rigs, environmental and RF testing, and pick the right tool for each problem.
Independent debug in Linux-based test environments. You don't escalate to the SW team for a stack trace. You parse logs, you flash builds, you isolate failure modes yourself. You're comfortable operating without a 'golden unit' reference and validating the tester itself before you trust its results.

Software fluency for test automation. Strong Python. Comfort with at least one of LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++, or equivalent test-software stacks. You can read and reason about a test framework's architecture, not just its scripts.
Day-to-day comfort with USB, Ethernet, RS232/RS485, CAN, I2C, SPI, and similar interfaces — and the test instrumentation that exercises them.
You're comfortable with high project ownership where scope and definition are limited. You decide, you move, and you adjust. You're at home on the floor and make decisions with team safety front of mind.
You've hired, mentored, and led test engineers before — or you're ready to.
Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government NV2 Security Clearance (Australian citizen).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Time leading or substantially shaping a Manufacturing Test capability in aerospace, defence, medical device, complex electronics, automotive, or subsea.
Recent experience with low-rate, high-mix, in-house production.
Cross-site test discipline coordination — owning convergence between two production sites.
Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Test Execution System (TES) day-to-day fluency.
NixOS / declarative system configuration for test environments.
GUI development frameworks for technician-facing test consoles.
AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality systems and audit interface experience.
Familiarity with digital tools for manufacturing such as MES, Oracle ERP, Teamcenter PLM.
