Role Overview
The Manufacturing Engineering Student manages manufacturing process capabilities to support sales demand and forecast requirements.
The role is based within a manufacturer of custom dry-type transformers and electrical power solutions.
Key Activities
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by reducing non-value-added activities.
- Monitor quality trends and implement required improvements.
- Review labour standards and update them as product designs evolve.
- Resolve manufacturing issues and ensure adherence to standard practices.
- Create or modify manufacturing procedures when required.
- Maintain SPI and SWI process instructions and support competency development.
- Review MOS, DPMO, and COQ production trends and implement improvements.
- Standardize processes across manufacturing locations through innovation and collaboration.
- Provide process training and support lean initiatives.
- Promote 5S throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a cross-functional team.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Hands-on ability to demonstrate processes using tools and large equipment.
- Ability to work with little supervision and remain highly motivated.
- Experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is mandatory.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and ERP software is desirable.
- Magnetic or transformer construction experience is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of electrical circuitry, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding processes is desirable.
