The Manufacturing Engineer drives continuous improvement across Tri Tool's manufacturing operations by monitoring processes and costs, identifying and implementing efficiencies, and supporting day-to-day production needs. This role works cross-functionally with engineering, production, quality, and vendors to reduce lead times, lower costs, and maintain high-quality standards.
Essential Duties & Functions
Process Improvement & Engineering
· Performs all duties as assigned and adheres to Tri Tool’s Core Values
· Conduct regular shop walks with the Director of Operations and Manufacturing Lead.
· Identify and implement improvements to products, processes, tooling, fixturing, programming, and routings to reduce cost and increase efficiency.
· Create, manage, and maintain manufacturing routings and process documentation.
· Apply continuous improvement methodologies, including lean manufacturing, to enhance quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

· Collaborate with Engineering on new product development with an emphasis on design for manufacturability.
· Design equipment layouts and workspaces to maximize efficiency.
· Incorporate new methods and technologies to improve existing operations.
Cost & Performance Management
· Review completed job routings and perform cost analyses.
· Identify and address job cost overruns in partnership with the foreman, including corrective action through tooling, programming, setup, or routing adjustments.
· Monitor and manage KPIs; observe and provide feedback on current and potential methods, equipment, and processes.
· Partner with Purchasing to identify material sourcing opportunities that reduce costs.
Production Support
· Serve as a point of contact for machinists; resolve day-to-day questions and issues.
· Investigate and resolve operational problems such as material use variances or production bottlenecks.
· Communicate manufacturing capabilities and process information to facilitate smooth production.
· Participate in brainstorming sessions and cross-departmental meetings to promote collaboration and alignment.
Support Duties
· Participate in Tri Tool Safety Walks
· Work with Manufacturing Lead Person, Director of Operations with any Safety Incident Reports
· Open and close factory on occasional shifts
· Interface with QA / Participate in Material Review Board meetings
· Work with purchasing where required to identify materials to cut costs
· Manufacturing Engineer degree (industrial engineering focus is a plus)
· 3 years’ experience as a manufacturing engineer within a machining environment;
· 1-2 years CAD / CAM familiarity required, experience a plus. SolidWorks experience preferred. Mastercam software, a plus.
· 3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing costing / estimating, highly preferred within a machining environment
· 1-2 years ERP experience, preferably with NetSuite
· Proficient working in MS Windows OS and with MS Office programs
· Experience working with internal / external customers and cross-functional teams
· Skilled at conducting root cause analysis and problem solving to resolution
· Ability to read and comprehend manufacturing engineering drawings, including ANSI Y14.5 callouts
· Must be able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work well under pressure and with others
· Ability to perform with minimal supervision to work independently and be successful
· Must have strong verbal and written skills
Preferred experience
· Experience as a machinist or an engineer within a machining environment
· Project management experience.
· Proven ability to analyze complex problems, manage competing priorities, and deliver results through strong organizational and planning abilities
· Lean manufacturing experience
· Strong statistical background
