Qa Lead (Manual Testing)

About The Role

SportsOS is a fast-growing sports technology platform that combines live activity tracking, wellness data, gamified challenges, and community features into a unified experience delivered across web, iOS, Android, and wearable devices.

We are looking for a QA Lead to take full ownership of quality assurance across our product surface.

This is not a standard testing position.

You will be the founding member of the QA function, responsible for defining the testing strategy, building the processes and frameworks from scratch, and embedding quality into every stage of the product development lifecycle.

Initially a team of one, you will have the autonomy and accountability to shape how quality works at SportsOS.

You will collaborate closely with the Product Manager, development team, and senior stakeholders to establish acceptance criteria, define release readiness standards, and ensure every feature that reaches our users meets a high quality bar.

As the company grows, you will have the opportunity to scale the QA function and build out a team beneath you.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned QA professional who thrives in ambiguity, has experience standing up QA practices in early-stage or rapidly scaling environments, and brings the leadership presence to influence engineering culture around quality.

Manual Testing

Charles Proxy, Postman, browser DevTools, Xcode Instruments, Android Studio Profiler

Api Testing

Postman/Newman, REST Assured, or similar API test frameworks

Wearable Testing

Xcode Simulator (watchOS), Android Emulator (Wear OS), physical device testing

Bug Tracking

Jira, Linear, or equivalent issue tracking tools

Test Management

TestRail, Zephyr, qTest, or equivalent test case management platform

Version Control

Git, GitHub (branching, pull request workflows)

Qa Strategy & Process Definition

  • Define the end-to-end QA strategy for SportsOS, covering web, mobile, wearable, and API layers
  • Establish testing processes, standards, and best practices from scratch, including test planning, test case management, defect triage, and release sign-off workflows
  • Create and maintain a structured test case repository with traceability to product requirements and user stories
  • Define and implement release readiness criteria and quality gates for each platform
  • Develop risk-based testing approaches to prioritise effort across a multi-platform product surface
  • Evaluate and recommend QA tooling for test management, defect tracking, and reporting

Cross-Platform Manual Testing

  • Execute comprehensive test plans across web, iOS, Android, Apple Watch, and Wear OS platforms
  • Perform deep exploratory testing to uncover edge cases, usability issues, and platform-specific inconsistencies
  • Validate cross-platform parity for features including bookings, challenges, health tracking, nutrition logging, and calendar synchronisation
  • Test real-device behaviour across a range of handsets, tablets, and smartwatches covering different OS versions and screen sizes
  • Verify push notification delivery and deep linking across all platforms including wearable companion apps

Wearable Device Testing

  • Test companion app functionality on Apple Watch and Wear OS, including health data sync with HealthKit and Health Connect
  • Validate activity tracking accuracy, notification delivery, and data synchronisation between wearable and mobile app
  • Test for wearable-specific constraints: battery impact, memory usage, small screen layouts, and connectivity transitions (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE)
  • Verify graceful degradation when wearable loses connection to the paired handset

Health Data & Integration Testing

  • Test health and wellness data flows between Apple HealthKit, Android Health Connect, wearable sensors, and the SportsOS backend
  • Validate nutrition tracking, macro calculations, and health score accuracy across platforms
  • Test booking and payment flows end-to-end including Stripe payment processing, confirmation delivery, and booking history

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED5,000.00 - AED10,000.00 per month
