Position Title: Manager of Technical Service (Litho)
Department: Technical Service Support
Supervisor: Director, Tech Service Support
Work Location: Work from home, with travel to manufacturing facilities as required
The Opportunity:
The Manager of Technical Service (Litho) is responsible for leading best‑practice implementation and ensuring alignment with Smurfit Westrock’s strategic business objectives across Lithographic printing departments within the Consumer division. This role supports facilities throughout the United States and Canada, working closely with Printing Managers to elevate operational performance through routine cadence calls and on‑site engagement.
Acting as the primary technical liaison between day‑to‑day execution and broader strategic initiatives, this position requires a leader with strong influencing skills, deep Litho printing expertise, and the ability to drive sustainable change in a fast‑paced environment.
How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock:
Align departmental efforts with Division, Region, and Plant strategic objectives
Mentor and coach Printing Managers and printing support teams in Litho operations
Drive improvements in revenue and cost efficiency through waste reduction, process optimization, and elimination of non‑value‑added activities
Provide foundational Litho best practices across the Printing Manager community

Ensure consistent adherence to division‑wide Litho printing procedures
Identify training needs and skill gaps during planning and implementation phases
Provide Litho press support for downed equipment and ensure appropriate follow‑up
Work closely with the Color Management team and Prepress technical teams to resolve issues, ensure color and print consistency, and provide technical support during equipment installations
Partner with vendors to evaluate and implement new Lithographic technologies
Support new facility projects and provide technical expertise to Technical Sales as needed
Participate in customer visits to deliver Litho technical insight
Partner with Safety teams to support safety procedures and change‑management initiatives
Work with Quality teams to establish and sustain high‑quality Litho processes
Collaborate with Operational Excellence teams to execute process improvements
Lead cross‑functional team meetings across the Consumer division
What You Need to Succeed:
Bachelor’s degree or technical degree preferred
5–10 years of Lithographic Printing experience
Foundational experience in Continuous Improvement
Strong coaching, communication, and leadership skills
Demonstrated ability to partner effectively across multiple organizational levels, internally and externally
Experience training machine operators and Printing Managers, including troubleshooting Litho presses and prepress workflows
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Experience with Microsoft Teams preferred
Travel is expected to be up to 75% of time. It will mainly be in the US and Canada, but it could involve some international travel.
