The Opportunity

Minus Waste Solutions is seeking a Manager, People and Compliance to establish and lead the internal HR function across three growing businesses.

The role is primarily focused on Human Resources and also coordinates health, safety, and environmental compliance activities.

The position will build systems, shape culture, influence leadership, and develop an HR function for organizational growth.

What You Will Do

  • Build scalable HR policies, procedures, systems, and employee programs across three businesses.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment and coordinate job descriptions, screening, interviews, offers, and employment agreement negotiations.
  • Create consistent onboarding and orientation practices.
  • Guide employees and leaders on employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, discipline, and terminations.
  • Conduct or coordinate investigations involving harassment, discrimination, or policy concerns.
  • Maintain the employee handbook and align policies with employment legislation.
  • Administer benefits and review compensation, vacation, sick-day, and market-analysis practices.
  • Identify training and professional-development needs.
  • Coordinate WSIB claims, return-to-work programs, safety training, workplace boards, risk assessments, and safety communications.
  • Manage external health, safety, and environmental compliance providers.
  • Act as an internal contact for ministries, regulators, and customers on compliance matters.

What You Bring

  • Five to seven years of progressive human resources experience, ideally in a growing, multi-site organization.
  • A college diploma or university degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Experience building or significantly improving HR policies and systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation, employee relations, workplace investigations, and performance management.
  • Practical exposure to occupational health and safety, WSIB claims, and return-to-work programs.
  • Ability to recognize when specialized legal, safety, or environmental expertise is needed and manage external providers.
  • Strong communication, diplomacy, emotional intelligence, organization, process orientation, and judgment.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly among company locations and throughout Southwestern Ontario.
  • Industrial, environmental, or similarly regulated organization experience is preferred.
  • CHRL designation is strongly preferred.

Travel and Work Context

  • The role requires regular travel among company locations and throughout Southwestern Ontario.
  • The manager will work with plant employees, drivers, mechanics, senior leaders, regulators, and external providers.

Compensation

  • Annual compensation is $105,000-$130,000 plus potential bonus.
