The Legal department in Europe, Middle East and Africa (together, “ EMEA ”) provides legal services to and manages the legal risk for MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities (EMEA) and the MUSHD international business (collectively the “ Firm ”).
Members of Legal are dual-hatted across MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities. Dual-hat employees will be expected to be entity neutral across all responsibilities to ensure that services are provided to both entities effective and without favour or detriment to the other entity.

MUFG’s Legal department globally has a business plan priority to grow the global corporate centre legal team in India. The MGS Legal team currently supports the EMEA, APAC and Americas regions with hiring currently led through the EMEA region.
We have an exciting opportunity for a manager to join the MGS Legal Operations team to support with managing our legal technology platforms and related vendor relationships. We are looking for candidates who are proactive and organised with existing experience of implementing and managing technology.
From time to time, MUFG may ask individuals to develop new areas of practice either where this is required to meet business needs and/or as part of an individual’s career progression.
Responsible for the administration of the legal technology stack (Leah AI, various apps built on Power Platform (Legal Matter Management, Policy Approvals, Legal Spend Management), Legal Holds, Lyncs, BriefAI etc) working closely with relevant Technology teams including: administer and configure, where required, workspaces, libraries, folder structures, and access controls manage user provisioning, group policies, roles and permissioning line with security and governance standards support troubleshooting and co-ordinate with relevant Technology teams and outside vendors to ensure that service support is delivered effectively and in a timely manner understand and co-ordinate any version upgrades, service updates and patches manage the renewal and lifecycle of legal tools ensuring cost-effectiveness and feature alignment

Responsible to support the use of technology for knowledge sharing including Legal’s intranet pages (on KIZUNA), Teams spaces, use of shared drives – create and maintain pages, support de-duplication and standardisation efforts of each team, support sharing of key knowledge with the business
Responsible to understand technologies available in the wider organisation and in the market that can be used to drive the Legal Department’s strategy and objectives e.g. enterprise agentic AI tools etc – this role will bring together the technical capabilities of tools available and the Legal Department’s needs and will influence the technology roadmap of the department
Responsible to build no-code / low-code applications, workflows, agents for use by the Legal Department using enterprise technology stack (e.g. Power Platform, Azure AI etc)

Use available tools to build dashboards e.g. PowerBI, Tableau etc
Responsible to analyse data captured by the various tools and identify issues and opportunities for consideration
Understand organisation governance requirements for use of technology by the Legal Department and act as a champion for governance and risk management (including organising regular training sessions to refresh understanding of governance and usage guidance etc)
Update and maintain the Legal AI Usage Guidance
Attend regular Legal AI Usage Oversight Group sessions and oversee delivery of action points
Ensure proper documentation of risks, controls, issues and events relating to use of technology
Responsible for control testing and audit responses relating to use of technology by Legal
Other administrative and operational tasks as required from time to time e.g. travel arrangements for visitors to MGS
7+ years’ hands on experience with legal operations and legal technology in an in-house legal department, top law firm, Big 4 consultancy or ALSP (experience of working with international clients) including experience onboarding new technology
University degree (or equivalent)
Fully computer literate (including Microsoft Office suite) and tech / AI literate (regular use of LLMs, development of functionality using no-code / low-code tools, experience with use of and building agents)
Understand the higher data privacy and data governance requirements (e.g. GDPR) and information security standards that come with working in a regulated, financial services organisation
Able to be self-sufficient in terms of documentation production e.g. using LLMs, document formatting, Excel spreadsheet management, creating simple and effective slides in Powerpoint
Able to analyse and report on data e.g. Excel formulas and charts, PowerBI, Tableau etc
High comfort level with technology e.g. ability to set up conference calls, use Teams, use workflow functionality, use task management platforms (such as Monday, JIRA or equivalents)
We are not looking for candidates whose experience is primarily deploying a single vendor’s technology across multiple clients or strong technologists with limited legal domain understanding.
The role holder will have responsibilities for both MUFG Bank (EMEA) and MUFG Securities EMEA plc.
The role holder will be required to perform their duties and responsibilities on an entity neutral basis, without favour.
The role holder is required to follow regulatory requirements applicable to ensure each business is appropriately supported and to maintain the legal entity integrity of each of MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc.
Working terms are dictated by functional mandates, the terms of the Dual-Hat Arrangement Agreement in place between MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc and any other relevant agreements entered into between MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc.
The role holder will have responsibility for identifying and resolving where there may be a difference or conflict in needs between MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc, escalating to their manager where required.
