Recommends and participates in creating new IST policies and procedures for research technology operations, including change management and contingency planning. Ensures compliance with current policies and procedures, educates and trains as necessary.
Creates and maintains standard operating procedures (SOP’s) as they relate to systems, redundancy, standard operations, and disaster recovery.
Provides technical support and troubleshooting for research technology systems and infrastructure.
Recommends staffing needs including the hiring, firing, promoting, demoting, performance evaluations, transfers and/or disciplining of employees, as well as other personnel actions according to University policies and procedures.
Develops and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for research technology operations.
Conducts periodic testing of contingency plans to ensure they remain effective and up-to-date.
Oversees relevant purchasing, contractual and fiscal activities with external vendors to ensure proper vendor project performance and compliance.
Stays abreast of the latest server/cloud technologies.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or related discipline required.
Six (6) years of progressively more responsible experience in a technical environment.
Must have extensive experience working in a technical setting and a strong understanding of workflow, policies and procedures regarding production environments.
Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.
Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing.
No special vision requirements.
Lifting up to 25 lbs.
