1. Oversees staffing, training and supervision of engineers and or technicians to include: policy interpretation and enforcement, workload distribution, assists with performance evaluations and managing employee relations while ensuring engineering schedules, customer needs and quality standards are met in a timely fashion.

2. Monitor performance and work with other members of the engineering department to create electrical design solutions that meet company directions and customer requirements.
3. Provide leadership to • solve problems through utilization of comprehensive root cause analysis techniques. • make product enhancements by recommending and implementing hardware, software, mechanical, or other techniques. • recommend and implement new hardware and software design platforms, architecture, and utilities to achieve strategic company goals.

6. Write clear, concise and thorough test procedures, so DVT technician(s) are enabled to verify that the design satisfies all product requirements.
7. Ensure designs and processes satisfy Zebra's quality standards, and are implemented in a timely and cost effective manner.
8. Create and maintain project schedules and report on project status, activities and issues.
9. Work with customers, other engineers, Sales and Marketing to understand project or customer requirements and translate these into solutions.
10. Work with Quality, Service and Manufacturing organizations to ensure that Zebra products are delivered and maintained to the highest standards possible.
11. Participate in definition and implementation of Company directed initiatives to help meet corporate objectives.
12. Maintain department budget that is aligned with strategic business goals.
13. Participate in design review meetings.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
-BS in Electrical Engineering is required. MS preferred.
- 8-10 years electrical design experience, 5 years management experience.
-VHDL design experience desired.
-Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, MS DOS, UNIX, and other operating systems is required.
-Knowledge of C, C++ helpful.
-Must have familiarity with design analysis and simulation tools. Knowledge of scheduling software such as Microsoft Project is also desired to accurately estimate project timeframes.
-Strong communication skills are also required.
