Job Overview

  • The Manager Commissioning manages professional employees and supervisors and is accountable for the performance and results of the Commissioning group.
  • The role will address resource and operational challenges by appropriately adapting departmental plans and priorities.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage a generally homogeneous team; adapt plans and priorities to meet production and/or operational challenges.
  • Manage professional employees in the department to success by coaching, reward, and recognition.
  • Accountable for the performance and results of a team within its discipline.
  • Adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
  • Decision is guided by policies, procedures, and business plan; receive guidance from manager.
  • Assign staffing for the departmental positions on projects and proposals.
  • Responsible for administrative and technical management of the Commissioning Department.
  • Identify performance gaps and corrects including systems, equipment, and people resources.
  • Provide leadership and instruction to their employees.
  • Ensure work is being coordinated between the other disciplines, offices, fabrication, and construction to meet project requirements.
  • Manage the technical execution to support the business considerations established for the project.
  • Responsible for the administration and technical management of the department.

Essential Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience and proven leadership experience in oil and gas with major contractor or consultant.
  • Significant role in at least three major projects in the oil and gas or chemical process industry demonstrating technical broad knowledge of commissioning and start up.
  • Must have effective communication skills, able to establish confident relationships with discipline managers, technical engineers, and non engineers. Presentation skills are required.
  • Good working knowledge of English, both oral and written.
  • Must have excellent computer software skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and other engineering software programs.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be adaptable to the needs of various discipline groups.
  • Proficiency in English, Multi Language skills a plus.
  • The reassignment to other McDermott offices.
