Job Overview

The Manager Accounting requires an in-depth understanding of accounting concepts, theories, and principles and basic knowledge of other related disciplines.

The Manager of Accounting must be able to apply an understanding of the industry to improve effectiveness, provide guidance, and influence processes and policies for the accounting discipline as well as identify and resolve technical, operational, and organizational problems that impact effectiveness.

The Manager’s Accounting impacts the level of service and the accounting team’s ability to meet quality and timeliness objectives.

Decisions made by the Manager of Accounting should be guided by policies, resource requirements, budgets, and the business plan.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Analysis, assessment, and reporting of monthly/quarterly project Gross Profit Movement, Breakeven, Loss Projects, and Combining Adjustments at a consolidated level
  • Assisting in preparation of monthly/annual financial forecast for major projects
  • Preparation of monthly analysis of project-specific current period results against forecasted results
  • Consolidation and analysis of quarterly project-related schedules
  • Preparation of monthly project adjustments (Dilution Risk, Revenue Combining, Loss Reserve adjustments)
  • Analysis and preparation of monthly reconciliation for Revenue, Backlog, and Public GP
  • Maintenance and consolidation of project-related corporate reports (Hyperion HFM and Planning)
  • Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams

Essential Qualifications And Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA preferred
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with multiple accounting ERP and Consolidation systems is preferred
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 – Revenue recognition standard and how it impacts project accounting
  • Strong technical and accounting skills and in-depth knowledge of project accounting
  • Highly analytical and excellent communication skills
  • Enjoy working in a changing and flexible environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading transformative change preferred
