Maintenance Utility Worker

Employees in this role work under general supervision and perform a range of semi-skilled maintenance tasks across multiple trades, including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and custodial work.

may include removing, replacing, or repairing light fixtures, switches, and outlets, as well as testing electrical equipment following repairs.

The position also involves assisting with carpentry projects, inspecting and repairing plumbing fixtures and pipes, and performing custodial duties within maintenance areas and other facilities.

Flexibility is essential, as employees must be available to work any shift or schedule, with overtime required as needed.

Facilities staff are considered essential personnel and may be required to report during emergency closures or inclement weather to perform critical functions, such as snow removal.

• Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and other maintenance work.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Knowledge of tools and equipment used to perform tasks.
• Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
• Ability to use, clean, repair, and maintain equipment.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.

• Some experience in general building and plant maintenance with some basic knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and masonry work.
