JOB ADVERTISEMENT
The Saraland Board of Education is accepting applications for the following classified position.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED certificate required
- Ability to perform general school facility maintenance or equivalent
- Ability to perform general remodeling work, including carpentry, painting, flooring replacement, ceiling replacement, etc.
- Ability to perform general mechanical repairs
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds
- HVAC experience preferred
- REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support and promote the school system’s mission, vision, beliefs, and goals
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance, following proper procedures for recording daily attendance
- Avoid outside employment that interferes with the effective performance of assigned duties
- Promote positive public relations for the school and school system
- Report to assigned locations at designated times, prepared to perform duties as directed by the Director of Operations
- Perform general construction tasks, including framing, drywall, door and window installation, painting, and decking
- Complete basic carpentry tasks, such as attaching cork strips, mounting bulletin boards, and repairing chairs or desks
- Change light bulbs and replace ceiling tiles/grids
- Conduct routine plumbing tasks, such as unclogging toilets, urinals, and drains
- Perform touch-up painting, carpet or floor tile repair, and minor concrete work (sidewalks, pads, etc.)
- Assist with cleaning and sanitation efforts to support a safe and healthy school environment
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations
- TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (12) month contract
- EVALUATION: Performance evaluated in accordance with Board policy
SALARY
- Board approved salary schedule
