The Maintenance & Facilities Manager is responsible for developing, leading, and executing the maintenance strategy for SCCL's manufacturing facility.
This role will transition the organization from a reactive maintenance approach to a proactive, preventative maintenance program that maximizes equipment reliability, production uptime, workplace safety, and operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will oversee all facility, equipment, utility, and infrastructure maintenance activities while supporting a significant facility expansion project.
Working closely with Operations, Quality Assurance, Safety, and external contractors, this position ensures manufacturing assets remain reliable, compliant, and capable of supporting future business growth.
This is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategic planning with day-to-day operational execution.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve a preventative and predictive maintenance program that transitions SCCL from reactive to proactive maintenance.
Establish maintenance schedules, work order processes, equipment inspections, and maintenance KPIs.
Analyze equipment failures, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and extend asset life.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment histories, and spare parts inventories.
Oversee the maintenance, repair, and reliability of all production equipment, utilities, building systems, and facility infrastructure.
Coordinate maintenance activities with production schedules to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
Manage relationships with contractors, equipment suppliers, and service providers, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with food manufacturing standards, regulatory requirements, and company safety policies.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline preferred
Red Seal Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), Electrician, or related skilled trade with progressive maintenance leadership experience
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered an asset.
5–10 years of progressive industrial maintenance experience.
Minimum 3 years leading maintenance programs within a manufacturing environment.
implementing preventative maintenance systems.
supporting capital projects or facility expansions.
managing maintenance budgets.
working in food manufacturing, dairy processing, agricultural processing, or pharmaceutical manufacturing is considered an asset.
Ability to access production equipment, mezzanines, and mechanical rooms.
Ability to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs) occasionally.
Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends during planned shutdowns or emergency repairs.
Availability for after-hours support during critical equipment failures.
Knowledge of GMP and food manufacturing environments is preferred.
