General Responsibilities

  • Lead the Maintenance & Engineering function across campus MEP systems, building assets, infrastructure, and landscape works.
  • Oversee maintenance planning, engineering activities, small projects, and landscape works.
  • Align maintenance and engineering activities with operational, safety, sustainability, and service requirements.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Establish asset registers, condition assessments, lifecycle plans, and replacement forecasting.
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance strategies for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire and life safety, and other critical systems.
  • Lead asset reliability, lifecycle planning, engineering risk management, and the site energy strategy.
  • Integrate safety requirements, energy management, and building controls into engineering and maintenance strategies.
  • Oversee technical requirements and priorities for projects, modifications, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Monitor engineering performance and report risks, asset performance, and service outcomes to the FM VP.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage maintenance and engineering budgets, forecast expenditure, and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Lead CMMS/CAFM implementation and maintenance performance reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building engineering and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, BMS, fire and life safety, and other critical systems.
  • Monitor maintenance plans, asset condition, critical faults, engineering risks, and corrective actions.
  • Review and approve technical change requests and coordinate implementation.
  • Oversee vendors and contractors, ensuring SLA, engineering standard, and safety compliance.
  • Establish contractor performance KPIs and monitor contractual service levels.

Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 15 years of experience in facilities engineering, MEP operations, maintenance management, or asset management, including significant leadership experience.
  • Strong technical understanding of MEP, HVAC, BMS, fire and life safety systems, utilities, and building infrastructure.
  • Experience managing engineering operations across large-scale campus, institutional, cultural, or complex facilities.
  • Experience with specialized academic, performance, exhibition, or critical arts education environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, building services engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A relevant master’s degree is a plus.
  • Certifications such as CFM, FMP, IFMA credentials, PMP, CMRP, or asset management qualifications are preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage vendors, projects, budgets, and service performance.
