Applications are invited for the position of a Mainframe Developer within the GI Legacy Team, with the opportunity to work on Life Applications running on the mainframe in line with demand.
This is an excellent and varied opportunity for someone with experience of providing Mainframe support to play a vital role in supporting our strategic business systems and helping shape and deliver the future of these legacy applications.
Working proactively to meet Service Level Agreements you will use your technical, problem solving and communication skills to liaise with IT colleagues, project teams, service partners and business stakeholders to investigate and resolve incidents and problems.
You will also analyse code and deliver a range of service and project requests ensuring changes delivered to any agreed timescales, and working within ITIL, IT controls and processes you will be responsible for ensuring that our service meets both industry and internal standards, policies, and guidelines.
Playing a big part in any migration activities to new platforms and contributing to the review and improvement of internal processes and methods, producing documentation concerning any systems, program, or procedure changes this will be a challenging and varied role for the successful candidate.
On occasion there may be a requirement to work outside of normal office hours, to support business requirements and meet project deliverables. Applications for both full and part time appointments will be considered.
Up to 80% remote working
Up to 17.5% annual bonus
Salary between £38,000 - £57,000 (depending on experience)

The successful candidate should ideally be able to demonstrate:
Proven working knowledge of Mainframe technologies.
Extensive experience in a Mainframe & application support environment.
Experience of system migration and decommission activities.
An attention to detail and to work to a high level of accuracy.
A logical approach to problem solving skills with the ability to look beyond the obvious
Experience of working to tight deadlines
The ability to work both individually and as part of a team
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
A pro-active, analytical, and enquiring nature and the ability to show initiative.
Proven Mainframe support and development skills in some of the following technologies, tools and languages is essential:
Technologies: z/OS, TSO/ISPF, DB2, CICS, IMS, MQ
Languages: JCL, PL/1, Cobol, EasyTrieve
Tools: DfSort, OMC-Flash, CA-JobTrac, CA-1
Experience in a financial service, insurance, investments and/or pensions environment is desirable.
An Information Technology related degree, or equivalent industry experience.
ITIL Foundation is desirable
