Role overview
Programa is hiring a Machine Learning Engineer to design, build, and operate production machine learning systems.
The role spans problem definition, experimentation, production deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
The position combines machine learning, software engineering, infrastructure, deployment, reliability, and performance ownership.
Location and work arrangement
- Melbourne is preferred, with two days per week in the office near Richmond Station.
- Fully remote work is available for engineers based in Australia or New Zealand.
- Applicants must have working rights in Australia.
Core responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship end-to-end machine learning systems.
- Take machine learning solutions from prototype through production.
- Build Python-based services, APIs, training pipelines, and inference pipelines.
- Deploy and operate machine learning workloads in AWS.
- Improve model serving, latency, scalability, reliability, and production performance.
- Monitor systems, diagnose issues, and identify data drift, feature skew, leakage, and model degradation.
- Design evaluation frameworks, define success metrics, and run offline and online experiments.
