Role overview

Octopus Energy Services is growing its logistics network to support customer service and teams across the UK.

The Logistics Operations Manager leads a logistics operation with accountability for warehouse, inventory and transport activities.

The role is hands-on, people-focused and responsible for creating a safe, high-performing and customer-centric environment.

Core responsibilities

  • Build, lead and develop teams across warehouse, inventory, transport and operational support functions.
  • Take operational responsibility for safe and efficient site performance.
  • Deliver service, productivity, inventory accuracy, quality, cost and customer satisfaction targets.
  • Manage site budgets and resources.
  • Improve processes, identify bottlenecks and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Use data and performance metrics to drive decisions and measurable improvements.

Safety and inventory

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, transport regulations, company policies and industry standards.
  • Drive risk management, incident prevention, housekeeping and operational discipline.
  • Maintain stock accuracy through robust inventory processes, investigations, reporting and cycle counts.
  • Build accountability for inventory accuracy and process compliance.

Collaboration and growth

  • Partner with planning, procurement, customer operations, field services and wider support teams.
  • Collaborate with other sites and contribute to network-wide initiatives, site launches and strategic projects.
  • Work with third-party logistics partners to improve service, efficiency and cost performance.

Experience required

  • Experience leading large operational teams, typically 50 to 100 or more colleagues, in logistics, distribution, warehousing or supply chain.
  • Experience managing warehouse and transport operations in a fast-paced environment.
  • A track record of operational improvements and measurable business results.
  • Experience in customer-focused environments is desirable, ideally in B2C logistics.

Leadership and capabilities

  • Strong coaching, people development, communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management and transport processes.
  • Experience using operational data and performance metrics to support decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to manage change, build positive culture and take ownership.
