Role overview
The Rail Logistics Supervisor leads daily rail transportation operations, railcar supply, demurrage prevention, carrier performance, and synchronization of rail logistics data with the Mayer ERP system.
The role owns rail-routing strategy, carrier relationships, coordinator development, and continuous improvement in cost, service reliability, and operational risk.
Rail carrier and fleet coordination
- Manage relationships with Class I and shortline rail carriers, including performance follow-up and issue resolution.
- Monitor car cycles and railcar availability against production, shipping, and sales requirements.
- Intervene to prevent congestion, car shortages, and demurrage exposure.
Demurrage and operational risk
- Own demurrage cost control through Rail TMS tracking, proactive intervention, and carrier escalation.
