Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and oversee lifting operations to ensure safe execution in compliance with standards and regulations.
- Prepare lifting plans, risk assessments, and documentation.
- Coordinate with crane operators, riggers, and site supervisors.
- Select appropriate lifting equipment and verify certifications.
- Conduct site inspections before and during lifting activities.
- Review technical drawings and assess load characteristics.
- Ensure proper communication and signaling during operations.
- Provide guidance on safe lifting practices.
- Support incident investigations if required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of lifting procedures.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of lifting operations, including load calculations, equipment selection, rigging techniques, and relevant safety standards and regulations.
- Experience preparing lifting plans, risk assessments, method statements, and related documentation for complex lifting activities.
- Familiarity with cranes, hoists, slings, shackles, and other lifting accessories, including inspection and certification requirements.
- Effective communication and coordination skills to work with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, site layouts, and technical specifications.
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under time and operational constraints.
- Formal training or certification as an Appointed Person / Lifting Supervisor or equivalent.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental practices within oil and gas or heavy industry.
- Basic computer skills for preparing reports, documentation, and digital records.
- Relevant technical diploma or degree in engineering or a related field is preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
