Fitness & Lifestyle Instructor
The **Fitness & Lifestyle Instructor** is the visible heartbeat of the gym floor, a calm, confident, and professional presence dedicated to creating an exceptional training environment for every member.
This role is not defined by selling training or delivering constant classes.
Instead, it centres on **availability, attentiveness, and guidance,** ensuring members feel supported, safe, and welcomed throughout their training experience.
Through approachability, strong technical knowledge, and polished professionalism, the Fitness & Lifestyle Instructor helps maintain a gym floor that feels organized, empowering, and effortless to train in.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a consistent, visible, and approachable presence on the gym floor throughout each shift
- Proactively engage with members in a warm, respectful, and non-intrusive manner
- Deliver classes when required, based on timetable demand and operational needs
- Support members with:
- Equipment setup and adjustments
- Exercise technique and movement cues
- Appropriate load selection and safe spotting
- Alternative exercises when equipment is unavailable
- Respond promptly and professionally to member questions or requests
- Confidently support members of all experience levels — from first-time gym users to advanced athletes
Training Guidance & Coaching Support
- Provide general training guidance when requested, without disrupting member autonomy
- Assist members with:
- Structuring effective training sessions
- Warm-ups and cool-downs
- Regressions, progressions, or movement substitutions
- Help members brainstorm simple, effective workout ideas when asked
- Maintain clear professional boundaries while remaining helpful and supportive
Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure all equipment is used safely and appropriately at all times
- Address unsafe movement or equipment misuse calmly, discreetly, and respectfully
- Actively monitor the gym floor for hazards and resolve or report issues immediately
- Uphold gym rules and safety protocols with professionalism and consistency
Facility Standards & Presentation
- Maintain a clean, organised, and visually polished gym floor throughout the shift
- Take ownership of floor presentation and member flow
- Report maintenance issues or equipment faults promptly and accurately
Professional Conduct & Brand Representation
- Represent the brand with confidence, composure, and approachability
- Maintain impeccable personal presentation and uniform standards
- Communicate with members and colleagues using professional, friendly, and inclusive language
- Contribute to a training environment that reflects excellence, care, and attention to detail
