REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Licensed Engineer THIS JOB ANNOUNCEMENT WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED AND MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME. The Licensed Engineer for the WWS Engineering Planning, Development & GIS Section of the Broward County Water and Wastewater Services, Engineering Division performs professional and administrative work for utility planning initiatives and projects initiated by land developers through a Broward County Utility Connection Permit (“Developer Projects”). The position reviews design and record drawings for developer projects and capital projects, coordinates with engineering inspection staff and other divisions, performs hydraulic modeling, and prepares planning outlines for future capital projects. The License Engineer also evaluates, and reviews reports and documents for correctness, completeness and timeliness, undertakes special studies, performs analysis, and prepares reports. General Description Advanced professional and supervisory engineering work in the design and review of a wide variety of engineering and environmental projects. Works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or closely related field. Requires four (4) years progressively responsible experience in professional engineering work appropriate to the area of assignment including six (6) months of lead work/supervisory experience. Special Certifications and Licenses Possess and maintain Professional Engineer License in State of Florida for duration of assignment. Preferences Master's Degree or higher in Civil Engineering, or Public Administration, or closely related Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or Construction Professional in Built Environment Projects (PMI-CP)™ Certification Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification, Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV-SP) FL Certified General Contractor License; or Broward County Licensed General Building Contractor; or Speciality Building Contractor; or Engineer/Speciality Engineering Contractor Board Certified Environmental Engineering Certification (BCEE) Two (2) or more years or water and wastewater design experience Two (2) or more years of construction management experience Two (2) or more years of governmental contract and procurement experience Two (2) or more years of water distribution and wastewater collection system hydraulic modeling experience Two (2) or more years' experience with geographic information system (GIS) data and analysis
