About the Role
Gulf Helicopters seeks a highly experienced Licensed Aircraft Engineer (B1/B2) to support VVIP rotary-wing operations. The role involves autonomous line/base maintenance on VVIP helicopters, including prolonged remote detachments, ensuring safety, reliability, and airworthiness.

Responsibilities
- Perform and certify scheduled/unscheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and component changes on VVIP helicopters
- Issue Certificates of Release to Service (CRS) within scope of license and authorization
- Operate independently during remote VVIP detachments, making all engineering and airworthiness decisions on site
- Ensure compliance with QCAA Part 145, Part CAMO, ICAO, and company MOE requirements
- Maintain accurate technical records: TLB entries, job cards, defect logs, and work sheets
- Liaise remotely with Production Planning for spares, rotables, GSE, and AOG support
- Participate in Safety Management System (SMS): hazard identification, reporting, investigations
Requirements
- Valid EASA Part 66 B1.3 and/or B2 license or ICAO equivalent unrestricted AME license
- Valid type rating on at least one of: AW189, AW139, or S92
- Minimum 10 years' helicopter maintenance experience within a Part 145 organization
- Minimum 5 years certifying on type (AW189, AW139, or S92)
- Proven supervisory experience
- Demonstrated ability to work alone without on site support during remote detachments
- Must pass advanced security vetting for VVIP operations
- Must pass company medical examinations

Role Purpose
- Provide line and/or base maintenance on company operated VVIP helicopters, including during prolonged detachments to remote locations, in accordance with approved data, ensuring regulatory compliance, safe operations, and on time release to service under Part 145/MOE requirements.
- The role requires the engineer to operate with minimal or no on site engineering support, exercising independent judgement and certification authority for all maintenance and airworthiness decisions affecting the aircraft.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and certify scheduled/unscheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and component changes in line with AMM, CMM, IPC, and other approved data.
- Conduct accurate defect diagnosis and effective rectification for airframe, engine, avionics, and electrical systems.
- Carry out pre /post flight, daily checks to ensure aircraft availability.
- Issue Certificates of Release to Service (CRS) within the scope of B1 or B2 licenses, type ratings, and company authorization.
- Operate independently during remote VVIP detachments, making all engineering and airworthiness decisions for the aircraft on site in the absence of direct supervisory or on site engineering support.
- Work on other fleet types as required, performing technician level tasks outside own type rating(s), and assist other trades during maintenance tasks as needed.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Valid EASA Part 66 B1.3 and/or B2 license OR ICAO equivalent unrestricted AME license.
- Eligible for or holding valid CRS authorization.
- Must successfully pass advanced security vetting/checks as required for VVIP operations.
- Must successfully pass the company’s required medical examinations.
- Valid type rating on at least one of the following: AW189, AW139, or S92.
- Minimum 10 years’ helicopter maintenance experience within a Part 145 maintenance organization, including a minimum of 5 years certifying on type (AW189, AW139, or S92).
- Proven supervisory experience, with demonstrated ability to lead, direct, and support technicians and junior engineers.
- Demonstrated ability to work alone without on site support, making all engineering decisions for the aircraft on site, including during prolonged remote detachments.
- Strong troubleshooting background on mechanical/engine systems (B1) or avionics/electrical systems (B2).
- Proven flexibility for prolonged travel and extended remote deployments, and experience in multi national, multi cultural environments, ideally within VVIP or Head of State helicopter operations.
Technical & Behavioral Skills
- Strong understanding of QCAA, EASA, ICAO safety and airworthiness regulations.
- Proficiency with AMOS or similar maintenance IT systems and digital technical manuals.
- Safety focused mindset, attention to detail, and ability to work in shifts, on call, and remote field environments.
- High degree of flexibility and willingness to undertake prolonged travel and extended remote detachments at short notice.
- Confident, self directed decision maker, comfortable holding full engineering authority on site without access to local supervisory or technical support.
- High standard of professionalism, discretion, and presentation, consistent with VVIP/Head of State operating environments.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
Advantageous Qualifications
- Additional type ratings across the GHC fleet.
- SMS practitioner experience (audit participation, investigations, safety reporting).
- Prior experience supporting VVIP, Head of State, or other high profile passenger operations.
