- Advise front office, support and control teams across the Middle East & Africa on legal risks
- Provide proactive, commercially focused advice and guidance to internal stakeholders
- Advise on regional and global commercial contracts, data privacy, banking product and commercial template creation
- Support front office deal support, regional legal updates, guides, and internal projects
- Role model standards that reinforce a culture of integrity, quality, ethical behaviour and responsibility
Requirements
- Appropriately legally qualified with a minimum of 3 years post qualification work experience from international private practice or an international financial institution in house legal team
- Fluent English language written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with corporate and commercial banking products is an advantage

Role Summary
- The Middle East region requires a progressive, commercially aware and forward thinking junior level legal professional to advise its front office, support and control teams across the Middle East & Africa on legal risks.
- The role includes providing proactive, in depth, commercially focused advice and guidance to internal stakeholders across the SMBC Middle East & Africa region.
Position Description
- Support senior lawyers with analysis and identification of legal risks and implications of business transactions, vendor engagement, local governance.
- Keep regional business and governance teams informed of developments in laws and regulations affecting the business.
Qualifications
- Appropriately legally qualified with a minimum of 3 years post qualification work experience from international private practice or an international financial institution in house legal team.
- Fluent English language written and oral communication skills mandatory.
- Familiarity with corporate and commercial banking products is an advantage.
