Role Overview
Own the end-to-end test platform environment used for spacecraft integration, verification, validation, and manufacturing.
This is a senior, hands-on technical leadership role spanning hardware, software, Linux infrastructure, networking, instrumentation, spacecraft interfaces, and test automation.
The goal is to create reusable, configurable, reliable, maintainable, and scalable test platforms for increasing spacecraft production.
Core Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, integrate, deploy, operate, and continuously improve spacecraft test stations, test benches, SIL/HIL environments, and associated EGSE/SCOE.
- Provide technical direction to multidisciplinary engineering teams and collaborate across systems engineering, AIT, software, avionics, electrical, RF/payload, design, operations, infrastructure, and programs.
- Lead architecture and design reviews, root-cause investigations, troubleshooting, and establishment of scalable engineering standards.
Must-Have Requirements
- Significant experience owning complex test stations, SIL/HIL platforms, integration environments, or similar multidisciplinary test systems.
- Experience taking test platforms from requirements and architecture through build, integration, commissioning, deployment, and operational support.
- Strong hands-on hardware/software/system integration experience with Linux, networking, compute infrastructure, and troubleshooting.
- Strong Python and scripting capability, plus practical experience with Git/GitLab, CI/CD, containers, configuration management, and automated deployment.
- Experience integrating hardware, software, instrumentation, embedded devices, and communication interfaces within test environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex cross-domain failures and lead architecture reviews and root-cause investigations.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, systems-level thinking, cross-functional communication, and engineering judgment.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Experience in spacecraft, satellite, aerospace, or similarly complex hardware development environments.
- Experience supporting AIT, spacecraft integration, verification, or manufacturing campaigns.
- Exposure to electrical or RF EGSE/SCOE, spacecraft interfaces, instrumentation, data acquisition, and embedded hardware.
- Experience improving automated test execution, monitoring, diagnostics, validation, reliability, observability, backup and recovery, calibration, or lifecycle management.
- Experience standardizing test platforms across programs and mentoring engineers.
