Faze 3 Consulting is seeking a freelance Lead Systems Engineer for a four-month assignment embedded within the IT Operations team of a large UAE holdings group.
The role is hands-on from the first week and focuses on stabilizing recurring issues across a live enterprise infrastructure environment.
Work Location and Arrangement
- The assignment is on-site and in person in Abu Dhabi.
- The worker must hold a valid UAE residency visa and work on-site under their own residency status; the position is not company- or visa-sponsored.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Take hands-on ownership of recurring performance, reliability, and capacity issues across servers, virtualization, storage, backup, and Microsoft 365 or Azure.
- Act as the senior technical responder for escalated incidents and resolve root causes rather than applying workarounds.
- Plan and execute infrastructure changes safely under formal change control.
- Feed technical debt and risk observations into the client’s infrastructure roadmap.
- Document work throughout the assignment and pair with the client’s engineers so fixes remain effective after departure.
What You’ll Bring
- 8–12 years of experience in enterprise IT infrastructure or systems engineering, including recent senior hands-on delivery.
- A track record of stabilizing live production environments rather than only designing greenfield environments.
- Strong Microsoft platform experience with Windows Server, Active Directory or Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and Azure IaaS or PaaS.
- Virtualization and storage experience with VMware or Hyper-V and NetApp or an equivalent platform.
- Solid backup and disaster recovery practice.
- ITIL-aligned incident, problem, and change management experience.
- AZ-104 or equivalent certification and ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
Assignment Terms
- The assignment duration is four months, with a possibility of conversion to a permanent role.
- Candidates should be available to start within 1–2 weeks.
