Lead Structural Engineer, Water/Wastewater

Role Overview

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural systems for water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, and retaining structures.
• Lead structural design packages using engineering software, hand calculations, and design standards.
• Prepare Bluebeam markups and coordinate with BIM teams on models and drawings.
• Conduct site inspections, structural condition assessments, and rehabilitation work.
• Provide construction support through shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and change management.
• Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Architectural disciplines.
• Mentor junior engineers and apply sound engineering judgment and ethics.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Seismic Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer designation registered with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
• Experience preparing technical memoranda, reports, proposals, and client-facing documentation.
• Strong knowledge of the listed Canadian and structural engineering codes and standards.
• Proficiency with STAAD.Pro, S-FRAME, and CSI software suites, with working knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud and Revit.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for site visits and field inspections.

Work Setting

• The role is based in Vancouver and includes site visits and field inspections as required.
• Some safety-sensitive fieldwork may involve remote or isolated areas, working alone, and inclement weather within safe limits.

Compensation

• The listed compensation range for British Columbia and specified western and northern provinces is $135,200 to $179,100.
• Final compensation may vary based on education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, and organizational needs.
