Role overview
The AAV team develops Apollo, a governed data spine, and Horizon Compass, a provider-facing dashboard platform.
The Lead Software Engineer will own technical direction across the React front end and Python services layer as the platforms expand beyond Optum South.
Primary responsibilities
- Own architecture across the React front end, Python services and APIs, and Databricks or Snowflake data layer.
- Set standards for code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and API design.
- Lead technical design for portal features and data-facing services.
- Mentor engineers and act as the technical escalation point.
- Partner with the Director of Data Services on roadmap and resourcing.
- Represent engineering in cross-functional and leadership discussions.
- Guide front-end and back-end work allocation as the team grows.
- Support expansion to Optum West, East, and Mid-East regions.
