Role and impact
Xero is seeking a Lead Engineer for the teams behind the Xero Accounting mobile app.
The role combines high-velocity product delivery with system health, engineering practices, and AI-enabled productivity.
The engineer will define squad goals, remain hands-on in code, and keep the team technically unblocked.
Current team priorities
- Lead high-impact mobile workflows including dashboards, notifications, insights, banking improvements, and subscriptions.
- Champion availability, accuracy, security, and scalability through a production-first mindset.
- Automate delivery pipelines, solve recurring failure patterns, lead incident responses, and improve monitoring.
- Reduce technical waste, simplify complex designs, and use modern practices including AI to improve efficiency.
- Provide goal clarity, remove barriers, mentor engineers, and build an inclusive team culture.
What Xero is looking for
- Strong React Native expertise is preferred, with strong iOS or Android specialists also considered.
- Experience with backend API integration and mobile backend development.
- Mastery of software design patterns, distributed architectures, and cloud infrastructure.
