The role and impact
Lead engineering for the Xero Accounting App, Xero's flagship mobile experience for small business owners.
Balance high-velocity product delivery with system health, strong engineering practices, and AI-enabled productivity.
Define squad product and platform goals while remaining hands-on in the code and technically unblocking the team.
Provide goal clarity, remove barriers, mentor engineers, and establish a psychologically safe and inclusive culture.
Current team priorities
- Lead delivery of mobile workflows such as dashboards, notifications, tasks, insights, banking improvements, and mobile subscriptions.
- Champion a production-first mindset focused on availability, accuracy, security, and scalability.
- Automate delivery pipelines, solve common failure patterns, lead incident responses, and improve health monitoring.
- Identify technical waste, simplify complex designs, and use modern practices including AI to deliver value faster.

- This is a hybrid role based in Melbourne or Sydney, Australia.
