Role Overview
Lead the design and development, sizing, simulation, testing, validation, and certification of LV/MV variable-speed and variable-frequency drives.
Focus on core power electronics for AC/DC industrial drive systems.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform drive and filter sizing, hardware design, loss budget calculations, earth and protection circuit design, arc flash calculations, and root-cause analysis.
- Use calculations, modeling, and simulations to realize product and project requirements.
- Design systems and equipment for reliability, testing, manufacturability, material, and cost requirements.
- Prepare and validate configurations, operating principles, application guidelines, specifications, BOMs, single-line diagrams, and drawings.
- Verify prototype hardware under specified operating conditions.
- Support manufacturing at factory and vendor facilities.
- Document functional test requirements and conduct tests to applicable UL and IEC standards, including project factory acceptance tests.
- Coordinate execution with system engineers and program, product, and project managers.
- Travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- At least 10 years of power electronics design and testing experience for industrial drives.
Preferred Experience and Characteristics
- Experience with electrical design and simulation tools such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, and MATLAB/Simulink.
- In-depth knowledge of motors and drive control systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to mentor and guide team members.
- Self-starter who works effectively within and between teams and independently.
- Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse and highly matrixed environment.
