Role overview
Lead systems engineering for Variable Speed Drive System projects, coordinating design activities and technical interfaces with customers and vendors.
Own project execution to deliver technically fit solutions on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
Essential responsibilities
- Perform power system studies using ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or PSCAD.
- Develop and maintain electrical network models for transmission, distribution, and industrial systems.
- Analyze grid performance, reliability, fault conditions, voltage stability, frequency response, and disturbances.
- Evaluate compliance with grid codes, utility standards, and project specifications.
- Support renewable integration studies for solar, wind, BESS, and hybrid systems.
- Perform relay setting calculations and validate protection schemes.
- Prepare technical recommendations and review solutions for process, system, or equipment improvements.
- Review contracts, prepare specifications and reports, manage technical risk, and coordinate project execution.
- Lead matrix teams and collaborate with platform engineering, technology, value engineering, and supply chain functions.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized college or university.
- At least 8 years of experience in power systems analysis or systems engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of power system analysis and electrical engineering fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or PSCAD.
- Understanding of protection systems, grid interconnection requirements, and relevant IEC, IEEE, utility, or grid codes.
- Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, relay coordination data, and equipment parameters.
- Strong communication, organization, prioritization, multitasking, and time management skills.
- Willingness to travel on short notice within the base country and overseas.
Additional skills
- Knowledge of Python, DPL, or other scripting tools is advantageous.
- PLM and Primavera experience are additional advantages.
Work location
- The position is based in Chennai, India, with travel within the base country and overseas for short- or long-term assignments.
