Role Overview

Contribute to advanced research in electrification, power generation, renewables, and sustainable energy systems.

Advance technology through power electronics research, electrical systems analysis, controls, and hardware development.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct power electronics research involving modeling, simulation, design, and testing.
  • Simulate systems involving converters, transformers, filters, grids, electromechanical systems, generation, and controls.
  • Develop control, monitoring, and diagnostic algorithms for power conversion systems.
  • Implement electrical system controls in hardware and conduct hardware-in-the-loop tests.
  • Lead programs, manage execution, mitigate risks, and deliver projects on time and within cost.
  • Present research to business customers and at technical conferences.
  • Collaborate with product engineers and Advanced Research colleagues on business requirements.
  • Provide guidance to new team members and work with multidisciplinary teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in Power Electronics or a related field with at least 5 years of experience, or a master’s degree in the field with at least 7 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience designing, building, and testing power electronics and controls in an advanced technology development environment.
  • Strong expertise in electrical and electromechanical system simulation and analysis.
  • Hands-on hardware design and build experience in power electronics experimental setups.
  • Experience with power converters, grid integration, and controls for high-frequency, high-voltage, and high-power applications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PLECS, PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, FPGA, PCB design, power hardware development and testing, HVDC, C++, or Visual Studio.
  • Understanding of signal processing.
  • Established project management skills and ability to analyze and resolve problems.
