About the Role
Consolidated Contractors Company is seeking an experienced Lead Design Engineer (Mechanical) to lead mechanical discipline teams in design, procurement, and detail drawings. The role requires extensive experience in HVAC, plumbing, fire-fighting systems, and 3D modeling software.

Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise and guide mechanical discipline teams in the preparation and co ordination of design, procurement and/or detail drawings ensuring deadlines are met and work is completed to required quality standards
- Program, plan and co ordinate all project activities including provision of design, procurement and technical information, ensuring accuracy, completeness and delivery within schedule and allocated manpower budget
- Apply advanced knowledge and skills to develop design concept ensuring all aspects are technically sound and compatible with brief
- Develop solutions to complex design problems using initiative and own acquired knowledge
- Provide supervision and guidance on all design, procurement and technical matters; review and resolve interdisciplinary issues
- Communicate with design coordinator and other lead design engineers to ensure design proceeds according to plan
- Liaise with client, site personnel and other departments to ensure design, procurement and construction aspects are addressed and resolved
- Monitor progress and prepare regular reports for management, addressing significant variances in manpower budget expenditure
- Supervise external subcontractors and subconsultants for specialized designs, define their scope and coordinate their interface with project design aspects
- Issue recommendations and lessons learnt for each project at completion for the purpose of enhancing performance and raising awareness of peers
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- Extensive experience in the mechanical engineering field, including design, procurement and site experience
- Proven team leadership ability for a minimum period of 8 years
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and MicroStation software application
- Knowledge of design software applications related to mechanical systems such as HAP, HEVACOMP, Fire Elite etc.
- Knowledge of design and procurement activities for Oil & Gas projects
- Advanced technical knowledge and skill
- General contractual and high cost awareness
- Experience working with major Oil & Gas clients in the GCC region

Overview
- We are seeking an experienced Lead Design Engineer for leading mechanical discipline teams involved in the preparation and co ordination of design, procurement and/or detail drawings.
Essential Selection Criteria and Desired Attributes
- Lead, supervise and guide mechanical discipline teams in the preparation and co ordination of design, procurement and/or detail drawings ensuring deadlines are met and that work is completed to the required quality standards.
- Program, plan and co ordinate all project activities including the provision of design, procurement and technical information, ensuring accuracy, completeness and delivery within schedule and allocated manpower budget.
- Apply advanced knowledge and skills to develop design concept ensuring that all aspects are technically sound and compatible with brief.

- Provide supervision and guidance on all design, procurement and technical matters. Review and resolve interdisciplinary design, procurement and technical issues to ensure the most effective and efficient design is adopted.
- Communicate with design coordinator and other lead design engineers to ensure design proceeds according to plan. Provides design procurement and technical assistance in instances where modifications or variations are necessary.
- Liaise with client, site personnel and other departments to ensure that design, procurement and construction aspects are addressed and resolved.
- Monitor progress and prepare regular reports for management, addressing any significant variances in manpower budget expenditure together with recommendations for corrective action, if necessary.
- Working knowledge of 3D modeling software such as Revit
- Extensive experience in HVAC, plumbing and fire fighting systems’ design and procurement activities for buildings and external infrastructure system.
- Proficiency in preparation of material requisitions, technical bid evaluations and material approval request documents for mechanical systems (such as HVAC systems, firefighting systems, plumbing systems, water treatment systems, various pumping systems, chilled water systems etc.
- Strong knowledge of local authority requirements and development of pertinent documentation and drawings.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
- Extensive experience in the mechanical engineering field, including design, procurement and site experience.
- Proven team leadership ability for a minimum period of 8 years.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and MicroStation software application.
- Knowledge of design software applications related to mechanical systems such as HAP, HEVACOMP, Fire Elite etc.
- Knowledge of design and procurement activities for Oil & Gas projects (i.e., process buildings, utility buildings, control buildings, non process buildings, underground utility systems and infrastructure systems.
- Knowledge of design and procurement for commercial and residential projects will be considered as a plus.
- Knowledge in estimation and tendering, including cost analysis and bid preparation will be considered as a plus.
- Advanced technical knowledge and skill.
- General contractual and high cost awareness.
- Experience working with major Oil & Gas clients in the GCC region.
