Quantium partners with the world's largest corporations to forge a better, more intelligent world.
About wiq
wiq is the partnership between Quantium and Woolworths Group, bringing together Quantium's data science and advanced analytics capability with Woolworths' scale and retail expertise to reimagine retail by solving the most complex problems using data and analytics. As a team, we leverage Agile ways of working to help our team develop their skills while also making sure our team is focusing on solving the most complex problems for both our customers and team.
Woolworths Group is Australia and New Zealand's largest retailer, serving over 20 million customers across our brands every week.
The role
We're looking for a Lead Data Scientist to join the wiq team and drive analytical excellence and strategic innovation, delivering sophisticated data science and AI solutions to Woolworths. You'll spearhead the development and implementation of cutting-edge data science and AI solutions, helping stakeholders leverage artificial intelligence to drive business value.
As a leader, you'll mentor technical talent while fostering a collaborative team culture through hands-on leadership. The role calls for excellent stakeholder management skills, engaging effectively with diverse audiences — from technical specialists to senior executives — and translating sophisticated AI concepts and data science methodologies into clear business value.
How will you make an impact?
Lead analytical delivery of data science projects for Woolworths, ensuring consistent, high-quality solutions that address complex data challenges and drive tangible business outcomes
Manage and mentor a small technical team of 3–5 analysts, developing their technical capabilities and fostering professional growth through coaching and knowledge sharing
Maintain strong stakeholder relationships, from SMEs to senior executives, ensuring alignment between technical solutions and business objectives
Translate technical concepts and analytical insights into accessible recommendations for non-technical audiences through compelling presentations and communications
Apply understanding of Generative AI applications to enhance analytical productivity and deliverable quality, staying current with emerging technologies
The superpowers you’ll be bringing to the team:
Excellent SQL and Python skills for complex data querying and manipulation across large datasets
Experience with large-scale data processing and familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, or Databricks)
Demonstrated ability to manage and develop technical teams of 3–5 people
Excellent stakeholder management skills across various organisational levels
Strong presentation and communication abilities, with experience translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences
Understanding of Generative AI applications in analytics and consulting contexts
Remember – you might not tick all the boxes, but don’t let that from stopping you applying. We’re more interested in how you work, your ability to solve problems and think big.
What could your Quantium Experience look like?
Working at Quantium will allow you to challenge your imagination. You will get to solve complex problems using rigor, precision and by asking great questions – but it also means you can think big, outside the box and push your problem-solving skills to the max.
By joining the Quantium team, you’ll get to:
Forge your path: So many of our team have moved around different teams or offices. You’ll be in the driver’s seat, and we empower you to make your career your own.
Find your kind: Embrace diversity and connect with your tribe (think foodies, dog lovers, readers, or runners).

But wait, there’s more!
We’ve got some pretty sweet perks:
Flexible work arrangements : Achieve work life balance at your own pace with hybrid and flexible work arrangements.
Continuous learning : Our vision is empowering analytics talent to thrive. The Analytics Community fosters the development of individuals, thought leadership and technical excellence at Quantium through building strong connections, fostering collaboration, and co-creation of best practice.
