The opportunity
The Lead Data Engineer is the primary technical authority for data engineering on high-profile client engagements.
This hands-on leadership role combines production platform design, engineering quality, technical mentoring, and client advisory work.
The role balances rapid delivery with long-term engineering rigor and pragmatic architectural decisions.
What you will do
- Architect, build, and deploy production-grade data pipelines, lakehouses, and analytics-ready datasets.
- Translate business problems into technical designs, delivery roadmaps, and engineering tasks.
- Solve technical challenges, perform code reviews, and resolve production issues.
- Establish standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD, documentation, and data governance.
- Build secure, resilient, monitored pipelines for scale and enterprise compliance.
- Drive operational excellence across version control, automated testing, runbooks, and platform monitoring.
- Coach and mentor mid-level and senior engineers.
- Partner with client architects, data scientists, and business leaders to communicate technical choices and business value.
- Present cutting-edge solutions and advocate for technical decisions with stakeholders.
What we are looking for
- Advanced Python and SQL proficiency with end-to-end ETL/ELT and scalable data architecture delivery experience.
- Hands-on expertise with at least one major cloud provider, including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Deep proficiency in one or more platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Understanding of data lakes, lakehouses, warehouses, streaming and batch processing, orchestration, and production monitoring.
- Understanding of data privacy, access control, encryption, schema management, and enterprise data quality frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills for client environments, stakeholder guidance, and balancing delivery pace with technical quality.
- Understanding of how data engineering enables advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI applications.
