Lead Civil Engineer

Role overview

Leadership and design

• Lead civil and structural design for terminals, runways, pavements, bridges, utilities, and related airport infrastructure.
• Oversee drawings, specifications, and calculations for compliance with project requirements, codes, and industry standards.
• Direct temporary and permanent structure design and integrate it with MEP, transportation, architecture, and other disciplines.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to civil and structural engineers.

Safety, coordination, and delivery

• Ensure designs are safe, resilient, and suitable for operational and regulatory requirements.
• Assess load-bearing capacity, durability, seismic activity, weather, soil conditions, and other structural risks.
• Lead cross-functional design meetings and resolve coordination issues across engineering disciplines.
• Manage schedules, project progress, quality, performance, budgets, consultants, and contractors.

Compliance and quality

• Ensure designs comply with applicable local, national, and international codes, standards, and regulations.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities regarding permits and approvals for civil and structural works.
• Implement quality assurance and control procedures, design reviews, audits, and inspections.
• Identify and manage risks related to site conditions, materials, design, and construction methods.

Team development

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
• Conduct performance evaluations and promote continuous learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Significant experience in civil and structural engineering on large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong background in both civil and structural engineering.
• Experience in airport or transportation-sector projects is especially relevant.
• Ability to lead design teams and coordinate civil and structural work across multiple engineering disciplines.
• Knowledge of applicable building codes, safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
• Ability to manage design quality, technical risks, schedules, budgets, consultants, and contractors.
