Role Overview

Lead technical design and engineering support for aircraft electrical and avionics modifications across Airbus and Boeing fleets.

Act as a technical liaison with aircraft, engine, and component manufacturers and internal stakeholders.

Support technical, AOG, troubleshooting, aircraft fault, and defect scenarios.

Accountabilities

  • Provide technically accurate troubleshooting, repair, dispensation, and concession solutions for maintenance or customer-requested defects.
  • Evaluate avionics systems and component damage and resolve discrepancies beyond applicable manual limitations.
  • Analyze defect reports, establish root causes, and prepare repair or deviation proposals for manufacturer approval.
  • Ensure technical solutions comply with organizational procedures and applicable P145 or P21J DOA privileges.
  • Evaluate alternative tooling and provide stage instructions for SB, VSB, STC, and related customer modification requests.
  • Review customer work requests and convert them into implementable aircraft design work that meets certification requirements.
  • Initiate engineering authorizations for minor and major avionics repairs and aircraft modifications.
  • Demonstrate and verify compliance with airworthiness requirements, including CS, JAR, FAR, OSD, ICA, and current regulations.
  • Develop specifications and modification procedures for electrical power, communication, navigation, autoflight, and instrumentation systems.
  • Prepare technical drawings, wiring diagrams, wiring installation documents, and harness build-up diagrams.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers during design and product selection.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Electronics, Avionics, Aeronautical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • At least 10 years of related aircraft avionics or electrical systems engineering experience across Part 145, Part M, and Part 21 environments.
  • Knowledge of ATA sections related to aircraft avionics and electrical systems; A/C Type Level 3 training is preferred.
  • Existing or previous Compliance Verification Engineer approval is advantageous.
  • Experience with aircraft repairs, modifications, retrofit development, troubleshooting, and AOG support.
  • Experience with an OEM, airline, or MRO holding DOA approval with major or minor privilege.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
